After surveying more than 1,000 Black professionals across the UK, US, Canada, and Australia, the data is unambiguous. The exhaustion you feel is not a personal failing. The extra work you do to be seen as competent is real and documented. The identity suppression required to navigate predominantly white workplaces has a name: the Excellence Tax™.
The COBE Community exists because validation and strategy should not be luxuries. Because peer support from people who understand your terrain without requiring an explanation is a legitimate professional need. Because the research that names your experience should be accessible to the people living it.
This is not a corporate wellness programme. It is not a diversity initiative. It is a space built by and for Black professionals, grounded in evidence, and free from any agenda other than yours.

The research, tools, and support in this community are built around the specific lived experience of Black professionals navigating the Excellence Tax™. Maintaining this focus is what makes it a genuine sanctuary.
This community is open to individuals who self-identify as Black, of African or Afro-Caribbean descent, who are currently employed, self-employed, or seeking employment in professional settings, and who are aged 18 or over.
We welcome Black professionals from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and internationally. The research draws on data from all four countries and the community reflects that breadth.
